Teeth Whitening

Since our smile is a reflection of how good we look and feel, it is important for many of us to have the brightest and whitest teeth we can. Thankfully, there are a number of alternatives available to obtain a healthy and beautiful smile. Bonding, veneers and crowns are all restorative therapies used not only to cover stained or yellowed teeth but also to correct misshaped and broken teeth and to fill gaps between teeth. These treatments can be both time intensive and costly. Bleaching is a simpler method used when it is only necessary to improve the color of teeth.

WHY AREN'T MY TEETH WHITE?

Teeth can become discolored or yellow as a result of aging, ingestion of staining substances (ie: coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco, blueberries) and old tooth-colored fillings. Teeth can also be stained during formation from use of tetracycline antibiotics or excessive fluoride.

WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE MY TEETH WHITER?

Brush twice a day, floss, avoid smoking, avoid staining foods and drinks and get regular professional cleanings. It is also possible to purchase an over the counter at-home bleaching kit. The disadvantage of this product is the bleaching gel usually contains an acid which can harm your teeth, fillings and gums. The one-size-fits-all tray will also leak more gel than a custom-fit tray.

WHAT CAN MY DENTIST DO TO WHITEN MY TEETH?

Whitening is very safe when supervised by our staff. Treatments can be performed in¬office or at-home, but we have found that Deep Bleaching, a combination of both therapies, will achieve the maximum result.

At-home bleaching utilizes custom trays with whitening gel worn while you sleep for 14 days.

Deep Bleaching is the most effective tooth whitening technique ever invented. I have provided smile whitening systems for some time now, but like many dentists and patients, I have been frustrated that not all patients achieve the desired results. After extensive research, I have discovered that deep bleaching is the most effective whitening procedure, it is the "real deal" for truly WHITE teeth. If you have been disappointed with past results or waiting for the right technique to be discovered, this is a miracle come true!

IS DEEP BLEACHING SAFE?

Provided your teeth and gums are in good health, the treatment is perfectly safe. Some patients experience a temporary sensitivity to heat and cold or pressure, but these discomforts should not persist. Dentist-supervised whitening has been performed for over 50 years, but has been increasing in popularity lately. There have been no long term harmful effects to teeth or gums shown.

IS DEEP BLEACHING PERMANENT?

Yes, definitely. However, depending on your oral health and eating habits, an at-home touch up treatment might be required every 4-6 months.
