Hormone Replacement Therapy May Help You Keep Your Teeth
Thirty-two percent of women 65-69 years old have no teeth at
all.
This is according to a recent survey conducted by the National
Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda, MD.
New research has found a link between hormone replacement therapy
and an improvement in this number.
A strong jaw bone keeps your teeth securely intact. Estrogen
replacement therapy helps retain bone density and reduces the
risk of tooth loss. If HRT is not an option for you, your bones
can benefit from weight-bearing exercise, calcium supplements
or osteoporosis preventative drugs (such as alendronate sodium).
